The people of Rumuigbo community in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, have applauded the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for providing solar-powered street lights for the community.
The Dr Samuel Ogbuku-led NDDC is proving solar-powered street lights for communities in the Niger Delta region, under it’s “Project Light Up The Niger Delta”.
On behalf of the community, the chairman of Rumuigbo Council of Chiefs and Elders, Chief Kinikanwo Owhonda, expressed gratitude to the commission for always being there for the people of the region.
Owhonda also expressed gratitude to the Rivers State representative in the NDDC board, Chief Tony Okocha, for using his office to see to the realization of the project.
Describing Okocha as a true and worthy son of Rumuigbo community, the community leader said the people of the area were proud of him.
Owhonda stated that Okocha’s double appointment as NDDC board member and caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, were rewards for his hard work, commitment and dedication to service.
He further stated that the NDDC board member has an antecedence of supporting community development initiatives in Rumuigbo community, adding that his selfless and voluntary service for the overall growth of the community and for the betterment of the people is legendary.
