NECO Releases SSCE Results, Blacklists 7 Supervisiors

National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with 57,114 candidates obtaining five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics.

The registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, who disclosed this while announcing the release of the results in Minna yesterday, said there was a pass rate of 67.35 percent.

He said the examination was conducted from Nov. 14 to Dec. 14, 2024, with 86,067 candidates registering.

The NECO boss noted that the release of the results was the culmination of the processes involved in the conduct of a successful examination, consisting of pre-examination, examination and post-examination stages.

According to him, a total of 29 subjects were examined, with 83,220 candidates sitting for English Language and 83,024 candidates sitting for Mathematics.

He said the results showed that 62,929 candidates, representing 75.62 per cent, obtained credit and above in English Language, while 77,988 candidates, representing 93.93 per cent, obtained credit and above in Mathematics

He however said seven supervisors; two each from Oyo and Ogun, one each  from Lagos, Cross River and Ebonyi were recommended for blacklisting for poor supervision, lateness and aiding  and abetting during the examination.

Wushishi added that a total of 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39 per cent, obtained five credits and above, irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

Wushishi said 6,160 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice, a reduction of 27.7 per cent compared to 2023.

He said, “Total number of candidates that registered for the examination is 86,067 with 44,988 (52.27%) males and 41,079 (47.72%)

 

females. The total number of candidates that sat is 84,799 with 44,277 (52.21%) males and 40,522 (47.78%) females.

 

“The number of candidates that sat for English Language is 83,220

 

out of which 62,929 representing 75.62% got Credit and

 

above. The number of candidates that sat for Mathematics is 83,024, out of which 77,988 representing 93.93% got Credit and above.

 

“The number of Candidates who got five (5) Credits and above,

 

including English Language and Mathematics is 57,114 representing 67.35%. Also 70,711 candidates, representing 83.39% got five (5) credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics,” he added.
