This achievement, recorded on Tuesday, March 2, 2025, at 21:30 hours, surpasses the previous record of 5,543.20MW set on February 14, 2025, by 170.40MW.

The latest record underscores the ongoing efforts to stabilise and improve the nation’s power infrastructure, despite challenges in the sector.

While the new peak falls short of the all-time high of 5,801.60MW recorded on March 1, 2021, by 88MW, it represents a notable step forward in Nigeria’s quest for reliable and sustainable electricity supply.

In addition to the new generation peak, the power sector also set a record for the highest daily energy delivery, reaching 125,542.06 megawatt-hours (MWh) on March 2, 2025.

This surpasses the previous daily energy record of 125,159.48MWh, also achieved on February 14, 2025, by 382.58MWh.

The milestone reflects the sector’s ability to sustain higher energy output over a 24-hour period, a critical factor in meeting the growing demand for electricity across the country.

The Nigerian power sector has faced numerous challenges over the years, including inadequate generation capacity, transmission bottlenecks, and distribution inefficiencies
