Pathfinder International has launched Women&Co Nigeria, an initiative aimed at promoting women-led solutions in health, climate resilience, and economic empowerment in the country.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the organisation’s senior media and communication officer, Bayo Ewuola, yesterday.
He explained that the platform, unveiled in Abuja, is part of Pathfinder’s global movement to put women at the centre of innovation and sustainable development, building on the organisation’s 60-year legacy of advancing health, rights, and gender equity in Nigeria.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Amina Dorayi, Regional Portfolio Director at Pathfinder International, said the initiative seeks to amplify women’s ingenuity and leadership in addressing pressing national challenges.
“Across Nigeria, women are already solving some of the toughest challenges in their homes, communities, and workplaces.
“Women&Co is about putting women in the driver’s seat to design innovations that shape our nation’s future in health, climate, and development.”
“By centering women’s leadership, Nigeria can accelerate progress toward equity and prosperity for all,” she noted.
She further highlighted that the initiative, first launched at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025, brings together cross-disciplinary women leaders from health, governance, entrepreneurship, and finance to co-design scalable local solutions.
In her remarks, Dr. Adanna Steinacker, senior special assistant to the President on Women’s Health, described the programme as aligned with Nigeria’s agenda to prioritize women’s health and leadership.
According to her, “Women&Co embodies the collaboration and creativity our nation needs to renew systems and unlock new possibilities.”
The statement further noted that the Abuja convening of Women&Co brought together women from diverse sectors to map leadership representation, identify barriers to opportunity, and outline actions to accelerate women-led innovation.
