In advancement of menstrual hygiene, cleanliness and dignity of the girl child, a non-governmental organisation, Queen Jennifer Ephraim Foundation has launched Pad-A-Girl Campaign initiative in Abuja.
This is part of the organisation’s drive to build a healthier, stronger and more compassionate society through education and support.
Themed, “She Matters,” the programme emphasises the importance of every girl child deserving love, care and equal opportunity to thrive in the society.
During a visit to Government Junior Secondary school, Dutse Sagwari, the founder of the Foundation, Jennifer Ephraim said the initiative became crucial in view of the need to educate the girls on the right steps to take during their menstrual period to maintain hygiene.
While recalling that some of them during their school age could not enjoy such privilege because it was seen as a taboo, Ephraim reiterated the commitment of her organisation to continue to offer assistance in helping young Nigerian girls achieve their full potentials.
In her remarks, Vice Principal Administration of the school, Okafor Fidelia, thanked the foundation for deciding to pick the school as one of the beneficiaries of the outreach.
Veteran actress, Tonto Dike, was also part of the outreach team and she took time to demonstrate to the students how to put on and discard used pads.
