A former commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism and chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Niger State, Hon Jonathan Vatsa has expressed concern over the outcome of the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections .

Vatsa who spoke as he celebrated his 64th birthday said he is worried about the roles of the judiciary and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the general elections.

The former publicity secretary of APC in Niger State also pointed out that more worrisome to him was the intra party rift that may occur in his party, APC which he added would be more dangerous for the party than opposition parties.

He said for APC to have delayed the announcement of the results of the primary elections almost two months after they were conducted showed that the party was in a fix.

Vatsa said, “The day APC will announce the results, that will be beginning of the mother of all crisis in the party” saying opposition within would begin.

He alleged that the consensus arrangements in Niger State for instance was more or less an Imposition of the candidates against the will of the people which he advised that if not well handled would boomerang at the end.

He said there was no justification and fairness in allowing a person who was going for a sixth term in office and disallowing someone who is seeking a second term, arguing that “that does not in anyway show justice, equity and fairness”.
