Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has called on the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago, to resume the Salah Durbar in the forthcoming Eid al-Fitr Sallah celebration in the Emirate.
LEADERSHIP reported that, in Empathy for victims of security challenges in the Emirate, the Emir of Minna has called off the Sallah Durbar in the state for the past five years.
In recognising that the security situation has improved, the Governor called on the Emir to resume the Durbar during the forthcoming Eid celebration.
The Governor made this known during iftar with the Emir of Minna and stakeholders of the Emirate at the Emir’s palace, Minna “I enjoin the Emir to lift the ban placed on the Durbar, especially during Sallah festival in the Emirate, so that the cultural heritage would be strengthened and preserved”.
He insisted that efforts were intensified to support security agencies in sustaining the relative peace in the Emirate, so that farmers can engage in farming activities peacefully in the coming rainy season.
The Governor assured farmers of early and adequate distribution of farm inputs at a subsidised rate during the coming farming season, saying that the government has procured many trucks of fertiliser for distribution.
He appreciated the Emir for breaking the Ramadan fast, saying it’s a good gesture that should be sustained across the eight Emirates in the State.
He also charged the people to remain patient; show understanding toward leaders at all levels, and pray for them to succeed in their leadership.
The Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Farouk Bahago thanked the farmer governor and his entourage for honouring the emirate by gracing the breaking of the fast during Ramadan.
He also appreciated the governor for his resilience, commitment, and purposeful leadership in the state, and prayed that Allah would grant him success throughout his administration, reassuring him of his Emirate’s unalloyed support for his policies and programmes that have a direct bearing on the people.
