Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Niger State Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, has disclosed that Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has redeemed the pledges he made at the Orientation Camp on Tuesday to corps members.
She said the governor has delivered a truckload of rice and 20 cows to the NYSC in the state while the process for the payment of N200,000 each for the corp members was on.
During the swearing-in of 2024 Batch B, Stream one orientation course, the governor announced the donation of a trailer load of 600 bags of rice, 20 cows, sinking of five boreholes and granting of N200,000 each for the comfort of corps members willing to serve in the state.
While promising to build additional toilet facilities for male and female hostels, he also promised to release N5 billion to construct a permanent orientation camp.
In an interview, the NYSC coordinator disclosed that the service had received 600 bags of rice and 20 cows, adding that “the process for the payment of the N200.000 was ongoing.”
She said the survey for drilling five boreholes and the toilets announced by the governor has commenced, adding that the donation of the items would help mitigate the challenges faced by course participants during orientation exercises.
