The Niger State government has signed a $2 billion General Framework Agreement with CORE Finance to unlock economic opportunities for the state.

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, who spoke at the signing ceremony held at his office in Minna, described the event as a historic milestone that would benefit the state.

He said the partnership aligned seamlessly with the vision of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to transform the state into a leading agro-industrial and investment hub in Nigeria.

The SSG expressed appreciation to CORE Finance for its confidence in the state, noting that the investment will significantly accelerate job creation, strengthen infrastructure and boost internally generated revenue.

“The government of Niger State, under the leadership of Farmer Governor Bago, has provided the enabling environment, the land and the political will. What we have signed today is not just a document; it represents a new dawn for our farmers, our youth, our women and our investors,” he said.

Usman assured the investors of the state government’s full cooperation, transparency and commitment to ensuring that all projects under the agreement are executed within agreed timelines and in line with global best practices.

Earlier, the leader of the CORE Finance delegation, Mr Rohi Chwajo, reaffirmed the firm’s commitment to investing $2 billion in strategic sectors of the state’ economy.

He explained that the investment will focus on three key projects, including the development of a world-class Agro Processing Zone aimed at becoming the largest in West Africa, the completion of the 5-Star Hotel in Minna to boost tourism and business activities and the deployment of a renewable energy solution at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport to guarantee 24-hour clean power supply.

Chwajo emphasised that CORE Finance’s goal is to deliver projects that meet global standards while contributing meaningfully to economic growth and sustainability in the state.
