The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that Nigeria remains too strong to be intimidated by insurgents, expressing optimism that ongoing security challenges would be overcome through sustained government efforts and national unity.

Mrs Tinubu made the remarks on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti during a meeting with members of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council at the Government House.

She said the administration of President Bola Tinubu was fully committed to restoring peace and stability across the country, noting that significant efforts were already underway to address insecurity.

According to her, the federal government was working closely with international partners to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and improve operational capacity in affected regions.

She commended the people of Ekiti State for their hospitality and specifically appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Olayemi Oyebanji, for their reception.

Mrs Tinubu also thanked traditional rulers in the state for their continued support for President Tinubu, particularly during the 2023 presidential election.

“The president is working tirelessly to ensure that insecurity in the country is curbed,” she said.

She urged Nigerians to remain prayerful and hopeful, expressing confidence that the country would overcome its security challenges.

“We acknowledge the support being offered by foreign countries to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges,” she added.

During the visit, the First Lady distributed a total of N100 million to 2,000 female petty traders in Ekiti State as a business recapitalisation grant.

Each beneficiary received N50,000 to support small-scale trading and household income.

She said the intervention was aimed at strengthening women-led micro-enterprises and improving family livelihoods.

Traditional rulers at the event commended President Tinubu’s leadership, with the Chairman of the council, Oba Adejimi Alagbado, praising his governance record and calling for intensified efforts to address insecurity.

Dignitaries at the event included the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Idele, alongside wives of governors and other political stakeholders.
