The leadership of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) yesterday said Nigerian workers must look inward and do away with leaders who initiate problems rather than solve existing ones.
The union leaders said Nigerian workers are wary of operating in an insecure environment and will wear a new thinking cap to proffer collective solutions to the economic, social and political problems affecting the country.
Outgoing federal council chairman, Comrade Timothy Odebunmi stated this at the union’s 12th Quadrennial Federal Council Delegates Conference with the theme, “Bureaucracy in an Insecured Economy: A critical Review of the Nigeria Public Service”.
According to him, the theme was chosen to draw the attention of all and sundry to look at ways of bringing back the “engine room” of governance and the public service to its glory.
He said, “We have chosen to avoid apportioning blames today therefore, all hands must be on deck, we also need to wear our thinking caps in other to proffer solutions to the numerous problems affecting our great country, Nigeria rather than indulging in hate speeches, our country needs leaders that will solve existing problems and not who initiated the problems”.
Also speaking, NCSU national president, Comrade Sunday Adeleye, urged the delegates not to allow the outcome of the election to divide the union as he urged all the contestants to abide by the decision of the delegates through the ballot.
In the council report, the assistant general-secretary, Comrade Daniel Otakpo charged union members to vote in leaders with visionary ideas that will transform the country from a consumer to productive economy.
