Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have moved to deepen cooperation in housing development and investment following high-level talks between officials of both countries at the 2026 Real Estate Future Forum (RFF) in Riyadh.
Nigeria’s minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, held a bilateral meeting with Saudi Arabia’s minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, alongside senior officials from both countries, to explore areas of collaboration in housing delivery, construction technology and local manufacturing.
At the meeting, Dangiwa presented Nigeria’s flagship Renewed Hope Housing Programme, describing it as a large-scale housing initiative structured to attract private sector investment.
He said the programme was designed to drive economic growth, industrialisation and job creation while addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit.
According to the minister, the federal government is also implementing Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs aimed at boosting local production of construction materials, reducing building costs and strengthening the country’s construction value chain.
“Nigeria is positioning housing not just as a social service, but as a key economic growth driver supported by clear policies, viable public-private partnership frameworks and strong demand,” Dangiwa said.
Responding, Al-Hogail commended Nigeria’s housing reform efforts and expressed readiness to strengthen institutional cooperation between both nations.
While recognising Nigeria’s growing housing demand and the country’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for private sector participation, the Saudi minister said there were strong areas of synergy between both countries, particularly in mass housing delivery, deployment of modern construction technologies and development of local manufacturing capacity.
He also pledged to facilitate engagement between Nigerian authorities and reputable Saudi firms with the technical expertise and financial capacity to invest in Nigeria’s housing and construction industry.
