Tanzania’s High Commission declared its commitment to strengthening bilateral and trade relations with Nigeria and other West African Countries, saying such economic diplomacy will help stimulate economic growth.
The acting High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Nigeria, Madam Judica Nagunwa, stated this during the 2024 Lagos International Trade Fair held at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, which ended on 10th November 2024.
Nagunwa, represented by Edna Obinyan Sylvester, Economic Affairs Officer, stated that the High Commission’s participation in International Trade Fairs was a key responsibility for implementing economic diplomacy.
During the trade fair, Nagunwa stated, ‘We are here exhibiting Tanzanian products. We have coffee, tea, spices, wine, and leather products. We look forward to meeting with potential importers to discuss the possibility of importing these products from Tanzania.
“We are doing this to implement AfCFTA Protocols, which aim at facilitating trade within the African Continent. As African countries, we must be trading amongst ourselves; we have all we need.”
Nagunwa added, “We are here to answer questions, give you information about investment opportunities in Tanzania and tourism opportunities, and guide you on applying for your visas and questions relating to tourism, like what you can do while in Tanzania. This is the information we are bringing to you about Tanzania.
“Tanzania is a country in East Africa endowed with many investment opportunities, specifically in mining, agriculture, tourism, real estate, manufacturing, the financial sector, the blue economy, etc.”
She seized the opportunity to invite potential investors to consider investing in Tanzania, saying their country’s investment environment and legal regime are amicable.
