The National Institute for Sports (NIS) has completed an inspection of facilities in Adamawa State, Nigeria, in preparation for the official launch of its academic programmes there. This visit highlights the increasing collaboration between the NIS and the Adamawa State Government, aiming to enhance sports development, institutional capacity, and administrative efficiency in the North-East region.

According to a statement from Yakubu Iliyasu, NIS Adamawa State Information Officer, the inspection team, led by NIS Registrar Mr. Belmond Benson, expressed satisfaction with the infrastructure and logistical support provided by the Adamawa State Government. Mr. Benson confirmed that the facilities meet the required standards for both academic and administrative operations, noting the state government’s strong commitment to supporting the institute’s launch.

Mr. Benson also assured that new staff posted to Adamawa would receive the necessary institutional support for a smooth transition and effective performance. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the host state and the institute for a successful launch.

Dr. Maj Remu, a Consultant with the NIS, praised the Adamawa State Government for providing the facilities, calling it a significant step towards expanding access to sports education and professional training in the region. Dr. Maj anticipates the facilities will be fully ready by 12th April 2026, with all finishing touches completed ahead of schedule.
