The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that it will launch its contactless passport application system on Friday in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
According to NIS spokesperson AS Akinlabi, the contactless passport application is available via the “NIS Mobile” app on Google Play Store.
This move follows the successful roll-out of the system in Canada on November 5, 2024. The initiative, led by Comptroller General KN Nandap, aims to streamline passport renewals for Nigerians in the diaspora.
“It allows Nigerians to renew their passports remotely without the need to visit a passport centre for biometric enrollment,” he said.
