The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of fast-rising actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as Cjay Nwoks, on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The actor reportedly passed away at a medical facility in the Badore area of Lagos State.
Popular actress and filmmaker Nkechi Blessing Sunday broke the tragic news in a tearful social media video recorded directly from the hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The tragedy occurred just hours before the scheduled 5:00 PM premiere of his latest movie, “Egusi Ogbono,” a project produced by Nkechi Blessing in which Cjay Nwoks played the lead role. Consequently, the movie premiere has been postponed indefinitely out of respect for the late actor.
