NOUN Set To Host Africa’s Biggest Digital Learning Conference

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is preparing to host the MoodleMoot Africa 2025 Conference, set to be the largest digital learning event in Africa. The conference will take place from October 8 to 10 in Abuja, with over 24 countries and approximately 400 delegates expected to attend.
Professor Olufemi Peters, the Vice Chancellor of NOUN, described the event as historic for Nigeria and the entire African education sector. The conference will begin with a pre-conference workshop on October 8, followed by the main conference on the 9th and 10th at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.

“The shift to open-source platforms like Moodle has been a game changer for us, and we are excited to share this experience with others,” Peters stated, adding that the conference will bring significant economic benefits to Abuja and strengthen Nigeria’s position as a leader in open and distance learning.

Prof. Grace Jokthan, the chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, noted that the theme of the conference will focus on the transformative power of disruptive technologies for Africa’s development.
