The Tin-Can Island ports of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), has donated learning materials to students of Lagos State Model College, Kankon, Badagry.

In a statement by the authority, the Tincan Island Port manager, Mallam Buba Jubri, said the learning materials involved school bags, umbrella and other learning materials to aid learning among tbe school pupils

LEADERSHIP reports that the donation was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) of the authority to encourage and appreciate the school whose student, Josephine Krisliwedo Hunpe, won the NPA’s Quiz competition which was held to celebrate the 2020 International World Maritime Day last year.

However, speaking at the school assembly in Kankon Badagry, the representative of the Port manager, Hauwa Usman, said the school was one of the few schools chosen for coming first amongst 3,000 schools which participated in the competition.

Usman also added that the gesture was to encourage other students of the same school to strive to be like their colleague and to be able to compete favourably.

Also speaking, another member of the Tincan Port delegation, Sola Adesanwo, added that, the pupils should endeavor to dream big and not allow distractions as this will help them achieve their goals.

Adesanwo also affirmed that being the best will make them stand out among their peers .

Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal of the school, Ibitoye Olusegun, who received bags for students and  umbrellas for the teacher, commended the Port manager  for the amazing gesture.

He added that he never imagined any organisation remembering them in the remote village of Kankon, Badagry, Lagos, where they were located.

Ibitoye added that the gifts are a big motivation for the students as it will encourage and make them look back in the future and say it was a turning point in their life and make them imbibed the spirit of giving.
