Dr Audi who stated that to effectively tackle national security threats, government at all levels must be willing to institutionalise programmes that aim to provide permanent solutions to perceived challenges, added that if adopted, such framework would organise security-related assistance that will further enable more effective support for security agencies and guarantee more effective implementation of programmes in their various fields.

The 12 books include: Civil Defence and Military under the Geneva Conventions, Critical Dictates of International Humanitarian Law and the Development of the Civil Defence, Readings on Nigeria’s National Security, Peace, Conflict and Human Security in Africa, International Cooperation Against Trafficking in Persons, Terrorism and Threat to Food Security in Lake Chad Region, amongst other publications.

Dr. Audi said the current security and crisis situations in Nigeria must be well managed as they have the potential to metamorphose into other forms of conflicts that can be so devastating, causing debilitating effects on the lives of citizens. He cited terrorism, kidnapping and banditry, among others, as examples of the changing nature of such conflicts.

While pointed out that armed robbery is no longer seen as a lucrative business due to kidnapping or hostage taking, saying he looked into the issues in his books.

He said; “The books also examine and looked at many recommendations given by intellectuals on the ways and methods of solving these conflicts”.

The CG who frowned at the absence of indigenous instructional materials to adequately guide security studies in line with peculiar security threats faced by Nigeria, said his books were aimed at promoting national security, identifying security bridges, proffer recommendations, contribute to policy, studies and knowledge of security.

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu in his keynote address, congratulated the CG for the efforts put into the books towards solving national security threats.

The NSA, who was represented by Major General AG Laka, called for improved synergy among all the security organisations.
