Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abia State command has mobilised its personnel at strategic locations in the state to ensure a crime-free and peaceful Easter celebration.
The commandant, Usman Alfadarai, announced this to the media after the command’s last quarterly operations strategy review meeting at its headquarters in Umuahia, the state capital.
“The precaution is in compliance with a directive by the commandant general of the corps, Ahmed Audi, to the commands to scale-up security measures during the period,” he said.
“The meeting affords us opportunity to evaluate our operations in the last quarter, make adjustments where necessary and or launch entirely new operations based on available intelligence”
“This is what we have done and I am glad to announce to us that we are doing very well guided by international best practices. But there is still room for improvement.”
“I want to assure the general public that the command is fully committed to our mandate of securing lives and property, and critical national assets and Infrastructure in the state.”
He, however, warned the personnel that disciplinary measures as contained in the corps’ Standard Operating Procedure will be meted out to any who may go contrary to the rules of engagement.
While felicitating with Christians on the occasion, the commandant enjoined them to emulate the exemplary life of sacrifice, peace, and love of Jesus Christ for humanity and His teachings.
He noted that the period calls for sober reflection and prayed to God to heal the land and solicited the continued support of the people for the command by providing it with useful information.
