While inaugurating the committee during an online meeting, yesterday on Zoom platform, the president of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo, said the committee would midwife the process that would lead to the conference.
He urged the committee to leverage on the NUJ constitution to regulate the discharge of its function.
“There’s no other document you will be using from anywhere. It is the NUJ constitution,” he said.
The committee members include Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, representing the NUJ, as chairman, with Ruth Tene of the FCT Council, representing NAWOJ as secretary.
Other members are Hannatu Mohammed, representing Zone A; Tola Gbadamosi, representing B Zone; Patience Ogujiofor, representing Zone C; Hadeezah Lamido, representing Zone D; Pauline Kuje Vana, representing Zone E; Grace Orunmieyefa, representing Zone F; and Abba Murtala, secretary, Kano State Council, representing the NUJ.
Earlier, Isiguzo noted that the incumbent national leadership of NAWOJ was inaugurated on November 15, 2020 and being a three-year cycle, the lifespan of the executive would end on November 15 when the conference of NAWOJ is expected to take place.
