The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the South-South zone has lauded the development model deployed by Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, noting that the people-centric and media-friendly governance remained a true catalyst for sub-nationals and Nigeria as a whole.
The NUJ leaders who appraised the governor’s scorecard in the last two years, stated this during a courtesy visit to the commissioner for information, Rt.Hon. Aniekan Umanah, at the weekend ahead of the NUJ Zone F meeting in Uyo, the state capital.
The delegation, led by the NUJ vice president (South-South), Comrade Opaka Dokubo, included state chairmen and secretaries from the six states of the South-South zone, and was accompanied by the Akwa Ibom state NUJ chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk.
Speaking during the interactive session, the zonal NUJ leaders expressed satisfaction with the development strides of Governor Umo Eno under his administration’s ARISE Agenda.
They lauded the governor for his inclusive style of governance, openness to the media, and developmental focus, which has earned him national recognition as Nigeria’s most media-friendly governor.
Earlier, Hon. Umanah, who had an engagement with a coalition of indigenous newspaper publishers in the state, emphasised the administration’s commitment to strengthening government–media relations and shared updates on key achievements of the ARISE Agenda.
