The Northern Youth Frontiers (NYF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it describes as bold and effective steps toward addressing Nigeria’s persistent security challenges.
In a statement issued by its North West Zonal Coordinator, Saminu Tukur, the group said recent developments have shown improved coordination among security agencies, reflected in quicker response times and more decisive operations across the country.
Tukur noted that the swift rescue of schoolgirls abducted in Kebbi State demonstrated a renewed sense of urgency in the security sector, while ongoing efforts to free pupils kidnapped in Niger State also indicate “encouraging progress” as security operatives intensify their operations.
The NYF further hailed the sustained offensives in the North-West, North-East, and North-Central regions, saying the operations are disrupting terrorist networks, weakening criminal gangs, and restoring confidence in communities affected by insecurity.
The group also expressed support for President Tinubu’s recent adjustments to the security leadership, particularly the nomination of former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), as Minister of Defence. According to Tukur, General Musa’s track record and reputation as a disciplined, field-tested commander have earned him broad respect across the country.
He said the nomination reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the nation’s defence structure and accelerating efforts to restore stability.
While acknowledging the progress so far, NYF urged the Federal Government and security agencies to maintain the momentum until all abducted victims are safely reunited with their families.
The group also called for closer collaboration among state governments, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, and citizens to consolidate recent gains.
According to the statement, Nigeria’s security challenges remain complex, but renewed political will, strategic leadership, and collective action offer a pathway to sustainable peace.
