FCT Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has been honoured with the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award at the 7th Security and Emergency Management Awards (SAEMA) 2025 held at the NDLEA national headquarters in Abuja.
In his acceptance remarks, Odumosu emphasised the urgent need for multi-stakeholder collaboration to tackle drug abuse and curb its distribution across the country. He highlighted that drug control is not just a health concern but a security imperative, linking substance abuse to crime, terrorism, vandalism, and social instability.
Stressing innovation in intelligence gathering, community engagement, technology deployment, and partnership building, Odumosu affirmed the FCT Command’s commitment to safeguarding communities, empowering youth, and promoting national security.
The commandant in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi, made the call when he was honoured with the Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA) 2025 , Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, held at the National Headquarters of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Abuja.
The FCT boss emphasised that as a Corps responsible for safeguarding and protecting critical national assets while promoting community safety, the Command remains committed to supporting strategies that reduce drug-related risks and strengthen national resilience.
According to him, drug control is no longer just a health issue but a security imperative, noting the harmful link between substance abuse, crime, terrorism, vandalism, and social instability. He stressed that confronting these threats requires bold and innovative approaches.
“We acknowledge that innovation must be at the heart of our collective response, through intelligence gathering, community engagement, technology deployment, and partnership building. These approaches will help us build safer neighbourhoods, empower our young people, and secure a stable future for our nation,” he said.
Odumosu commended the organisers of the 7th Security and Emergency Management Award (SAEMA) 2025 for providing a platform that recognizes outstanding contributions to national security management. He also applauded other award recipients for their dedication, professionalism, and selfless service to the nation, noting that the recognition serves as both an inspiration and a call to continually safeguard society.

In his remarks, the CEO and Editor of IMPL, Yushau Shuaib, stated that the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award was presented to the FCT Commandant in recognition of his exceptional contributions to security and emergency management, as well as his professionalism and resilience in tackling national security challenges.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to other distinguished recipients from various sectors, along with a keynote address delivered by the chairman and chief executive officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd.), who chaired the occasion.
