Eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi could potentially join Victor Osimhen at Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, if statements attributed to the club’s president, Dursun Özbek, are anything to go by.

The Argentine captain is being linked with a summer move to the Turkish giants, with Özbek hinting at a sensational bid for the Inter Miami star. Joining the Yellow and Red could provide the 38-year-old with valuable playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Özbek is optimistic about convincing Messi to swap Inter Miami for the Turkish capital. “Did you say Messi? Galatasaray’s greatest achievement has been the transfers we have made,” he is quoted as saying by Fanatik. “We have elevated our success to a high level, so it’s perfectly reasonable to ask about Messi.

“While pursuing these ambitions, we have ensured a solid financial footing and are not engaging in anything that might jeopardise this stability. All our efforts must remain within our financial capacity.”
