The environmental officials were said to have intercepted some spoiled fish and later traced their source to the sealed cold room.

The commissioner for Environment, Hajia Nafisat Buge, confirmed the seizure of the spoiled fish and the sealing of the cold room.

“It is unbecoming of any trade outlet, where products for human consumptions are being sold to trade in spoiled products. Our officials have done the needful by halting further sale, confiscating the items, and sealing off the premises,” the commissioner said.

Buge warned business owners to desist from trading in unhealthy food items because it is inhuman, against the laws, and ungodly.

She commended the residents for their active participation in the Saturday environmental sanitation exercise, urging to continue to prioritise their health by cleaning their environment.
