Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA), Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, has called on residents  to embrace unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence in the true spirit of  Easter celebration.

Elemide, in his Easter message yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital through his special assistant on Media, Kunle Idowu, described the season as a sacred period “that symbolises hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness”, stressing that citizens must reflect on the virtues of love, humility, and selflessness exemplified by Jesus Christ.

He noted that the Easter season always offers an opportunity for individuals and communities to renew their faith and commitment to building a more harmonious society, regardless of religious, ethnic and political differences.

He also emphasised that the lessons of the season remain timeless, stressing that perseverance, faith and resilience are critical in overcoming life’s challenges and achieving lasting transformation.

Elemide, however, reaffirmed the state’s legislative arm’s commitment to further enact laws and policies that would enhance the welfare and prosperity of the people.

“The state legislature remains focused on supporting the state’s developmental strides,” he said, urging residents to draw inspiration from the message which the Easter season offered, by supporting one another and extending hands of fellowship to the less privileged in society.

He further charged the youths of the state to remain hopeful and channel their energies into productive ventures that would contribute to the growth and development of the state and Nigeria at large.

The Speaker also admonished leaders at all levels to imbibe the principles of servant leadership, stressing that the Easter season serves as a reminder to prioritise the welfare of the people above personal interests.
