Ogun LGAs Receive N4bnFrom Federation Account For June

Ogun State government has confirmed that the 20 local government areas (LGAs) have received the sum of N4. 9 billion as revenue accruing to them from the federation accounts for June 2023.

This came as the state government revealed that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration recorded a net surplus of  N833 million for the month under review.

These were made public by the permanent secretary and accountant-general of the state treasury, Babatunde Aregbesola, who presented the summary of the federal allocation at the monthly meeting of the state’s June 2023 edition of the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) which held at the Conference Hall of the Obas’ Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.

While explaining that a total sum of N4 969,099,395:89 which accrued from statutory revenue, Value Added Taxes (VAT), exchange difference, electronic money transfer Levy (EMTL), non-mineral, forex equalisation, treasury crude, ecological and other mineral resources are for the month under review, Aregbesola said the sum of N4, 444, 106, 968: 83 would be required to pay the first-line charges, which include, primary school teachers’ salary, local government staff salary, pensions, traditional councils among others.

These he said excluded the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax and five percent Bond on Pension, both of which amounted to a total sum of N308, 627, 252: 85 that are yet to be effected.

In his own presentation, the permanent secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi charged the council chairmen to be more prudent in their finances and see their positions as an opportunity to bring transformation into their respective council areas.

Akinlesi particularly emphasised to the council chairmen that each of them was holding the position of public trust, with the ability to bring more development at ensuring people’s comforts at all times.
