Former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Delta Central Senatorial District.

In a statement issued on Monday, Omo-Agege thanked party leaders, delegates and members across the district for what he described as their overwhelming support and historic turnout during the exercise.

LEADERSHIP reports that the incumbent Senator, Ede Dafinone, had earlier claimed overwhelming victory in the exercise.

Hoever, according to Omo-Agege, results collated from all 85 wards across the eight local government areas of the district showed that he won the primary decisively.

“Across the senatorial district, long open secret balloting queues stood in my favour, reflecting your overwhelming mandate and commitment to our shared vision for Delta Central and the APC,” he said.

The former deputy senate president described the outcome as an endorsement of his mission to strengthen the party and provide effective representation at the national level.

He also commended party members for maintaining unity, discipline and order throughout the primary election process.

Omo-Agege said attention would now shift to the general election, with efforts focused on securing the Delta Central Senate seat for the APC and mobilising support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“With this mandate, we will contest the general election to secure the Senate seat for the APC and deliver Delta Central for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the presidential election on the same day,” he stated.

He, however, noted that the party was still awaiting the official declaration of results by the APC national headquarters in Abuja, in line with the directive of the party’s National Organising Secretary.

Omo-Agege urged APC members in the district to remain calm, united and focused as the collation and announcement process is concluded.

“This victory belongs to every APC member in Delta Central who stood for fairness, party cohesion and progress,” he added.
