Veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has announced that proceeds from her directorial debut, Mother’s Love, will be donated to Slum2School Africa to support the education of underprivileged children.
The actress announced a private screening of the film, where she revealed that 100 per cent of the earnings accruing to her production company, Redhot Concepts, from the theatrical release will be channelled toward expanding access to education for children in underserved communities.
Speaking at the event, Omotola said the initiative reflects her commitment to using storytelling and cinema to drive social impact.
“Today, I stand before you honoured to announce that 100 percent of the production company’s proceeds from the theatrical release of Mother’s Love will be donated to advancing access to education,” she said.
The Nollywood star noted that the funds would be handed over to Slum2School Africa, an organisation known for providing scholarships, digital learning platforms and educational support for children in underserved communities.
Omotola also reflected on her three-decade career in Nollywood, explaining that her humanitarian advocacy has often mirrored the themes she portrays in her films.
She described Mother’s Love as a story that highlights the realities faced by families in vulnerable communities while emphasising the power of resilience and maternal sacrifice.
The film is partly set in Makoko, Lagos, and explores the social and economic challenges families face while also touching on themes of youth development and community support.
Mother’s Love, which runs for 1 hour and 42 minutes, premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The film features actors including Olumide Oworu, Ifeanyi Kalu, and Noray Nehita, and has received positive reviews for its portrayal of class struggles and family resilience.
