Ooni Advocates Cross-cultural Friendship For Sustainable Peace

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has stressed the need for cross-cultural friendship among Nigerians, particularly traditional rulers, saying it is a panacea to the sustainability of peace and unity in Nigeria.

The monarch who stated this while meeting the Bayelsa State Council of Traditional Rulers in Yenagoa solicited the support of traditional rulers for the President Tinubu administration with prayers to succeed exceedingly in his renewed hope agenda for Nigeria

A release by the director of media and public affairs at Ooni’s palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, stated that the monarchs deliberated on issues bordering on the economy and security of the nation and adopted cross-cultural visits and communication as veritable tools to unite the Nigerian people(s) for peace and tranquility to reign in the country.

Oba Ogunwusi thanked the traditional rulers in Balyesa who turned out in their numbers to welcome him with a warm reception, reaffirming his interest in the peaceful coexistence of all the diverse peoples of Nigeria.

“We have no other country except Nigeria. Nigeria needs peace to progress, and peace cannot be without unity of purpose. This is where the government needs our support.

“Let us all lead our subjects right as traditional rulers of this country, for Nigeria to have peace, so that various developmental policies of the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda can positively manifest in all our subjects across the country. To do this, we must encourage cross-cultural communication and visits like this.”

The release stated that the 3-day working visit of the monarch to Balyesa state climaxed Saturday evening when he hosted former President Goodluck Jonathan, who had come in the company of his wife and former Nigeria’s First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, at his Golden Tulip Apartments and Resorts lodge in Yenagoa.
