Indications that former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and ex-Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, may be set to dump the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have heightened uncertainty within the opposition party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development is already stirring fresh debates about the stability of opposition alliances and the prospects of a unified front against the ruling party.

The reported move has drawn criticism from an ally of former minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, who faulted the alleged plan and questioned the intent behind it, warning that frequent political shifts could weaken public confidence in opposition figures.

Eze described the development as speculative, noting that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso had issued any official statement confirming their defection.

He urged caution against drawing premature conclusions based on political rumours and unverified disclosures circulating within party circles.
