Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stressed its resolve to consult the Elders’ Council of the party in Osun State in determining the direction for the forthcoming governorship primary scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The national organising secretary of the party, Sulaiman Argungu, gave the indication when Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), an aspirant, submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2026 Osun governorship election at the party’s national secretariat.
A statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo by his media unit stated that Argungu, who was represented by the deputy national organising secretary, Nze Chidi Duru, contended that the party is determined to “get it right” in the 2026 election by respecting the wisdom and guidance of the Elders’ Council for the primary.
According to Argungu, Osun State remains strategically crucial to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and must be reclaimed ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also urged Oyebamiji and his supporters to continue to conduct themselves peacefully as the primary approaches.
Speaking earlier, the national secretary of the party, Senator Ajibola Bashir, said the party must secure a decisive victory in the 2026 Osun governorship election.
Speaking after submitting his forms, Oyebamiji declared himself the aspirant to beat in the December 13 primary, stressing that his professional and public service record sets him apart.
