Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled 84 members over alleged anti-party activities.
Prominent among them was a former factional state chairman of the party from Iwo, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile and Comrade Biyi Odunlade from Ife, a current commissioner in Governor Ademola Adeleke led government in Osun.
Salinsile and Odunlade were members of defunct ‘The Osun Progressives’ (TOP) a pressure group in APC loyal to former Interior Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
A statement by the state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal stated that, following complaints of anti-party activities against the victims, the State Executive Committee of the party constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations against them.
But Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile in his response to his expulsion declared that it cannot stand adding that those who claimed to have expelled him have no authority and mandate to do so.
The chairman in his statement said: “This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct and actions that embarrassed and brought the party to disrepute.
“The Disciplinary Committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the State Executive Committee.
“After a comprehensive assessment of the evidence and consideration of the committee’s recommendations, the State Executive Committee has taken the difficult yet necessary step of expelling the following members.”
Lawal enjoin members to remain focused on their goals and continue to work together to serve the interests of their constituents and the state adding that their commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and adherence to party’s core values remains unwavering.
