The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said it has not picked a governorship candidate for the Osun State governorship election.

The national publicity secretary of ADC, Mall. Bolaji Abdullahi, stated this in a post on X on Wednesday.
He said the party has released a guideline for events leading to the primaries which members must abide by.

He said, “ African Democratic Congress would like to affirm our earlier statement that videos and social media posts claiming that the party has “picked” a candidate are false and should be disregarded.

“For the purpose of conducting the primaries to elect the party’s flagbearer for the 2026 governorship election in Osun, a timetable has been released and widely publicised. All aspirants are urged to adhere strictly to the guidelines,” he said.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of ADC in Ekiti State, Ambassador Dare Bejide, has said that Nigeria can get over its challenges with focused leadership, great commitment and proper planning.

He also called on the government at all levels to embark on mass job creation and employment for youth to curb the rising insecurity in the country.

Bejide blamed Nigeria challenges on bad leadership, maladministration and misappropriation of funds.

He spoke yesterday at the state party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on his return to the state from Abuja, after collecting his certificate of return as ADC governorship candidate.

On allocation of funds to states, he cautioned against mis-application of funds, mal-administration and corruption, saying avoiding such will put an end to most of the problems facing the country.

Speaking further on what the government should do to tackle the renewed insecurity in the country, he said, “Nigerian government at all levels must provide employment for the people, most especially the youths in the country and sub-national.

“Once employment is provided for the teeming youths, the crime rate in the country will drop, there will be more peace in the country.”

The former secretary to the state government (SSG) suggested that skills acquisition centers be provided in all parts of the country for youth empowerment.

He also advised the governments to make agriculture more attractive to the citizens, the youths for the good of the nation.

Bejide who posited that ADC has brought light and darkness will disappear from Ekiti said the arrival of the party has become a threat to the ruling government.

Bejide, called on all ADC party members in the state to be united and work for the success and victory of the party in the 2026 governorship poll

He said to achieve that is not an easy task, but with determination and unity of purpose the ADC will win the election.

“We will work hard to dislodge the government of the day and the ADC government will take over the leadership in Ekiti 2026”.

Bejide commended all his fellow contestants in the party primary election for resolving to support him and the party to win election and for coming to welcome him back to Ekiti.

Party chieftains present include Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, ADC state chairman, Mr. Ilesanmi, Hon. Segun Akinwumi, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, the publicity secretary, Hon. Akin Omole, who is the chairman of the committee for the ceremony.
