Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abia State chapter, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, has said the chapter’s priority is to win the 2027 general election at all levels in the state.

Ononogbu expressed optimism in the victory while speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital after attending a meeting of Bende local government chapter of the party at Senator Orji Kalu’s country home, Camp Neya, Igbere.

He said that given the calibre of members, the chapter parades they are poised to win election in every ward, and he urged individual structures within the chapter to close ranks and work together toward the target.

“Unification of various structures of our key stakeholders could form a template and model for other local governments in the state in the unification process,” the chairman observed.

He noted Kalu’s comments at the meeting, which had the party’s national welfare secretary, Donatus Nwankpa, saying Kalu’s insistence that the chapter is not factionalised was very apt.

“The distinguished Senator had emphasised that there is no faction in the chapter and that its recognised leadership is headed by me and therefore urged the members to support my administration,” he said.

He said at the meeting he expressed delight that the senator and erstwhile governor of the state, Benjamin Kalu, House of Representatives deputy speaker, and himself were members of the local chapter.

He explained that the meeting, which was attended by both the state and local government executive committees and OUK support groups, was aimed at strengthening and enhancing the party’s cohesiveness in the zone.

The chairman used the forum to clarify a trending media report in which he was quoted as referring to Camp Neya as the party’s home in the state during the meeting.

He said that, given that the senator, deputy speaker, and himself were members of the local chapter, it was safe to refer to the local government as the home of the party in the state.
