A man was yesterday rescued after he reportedly jumped into a river from the British-American Bridge in Jos North local government area of Plateau State in an apparent suicide attempt.
Passers-by who saw him jump had raised the alarm and mobilised others to rescue him from the water.
An eyewitness, Mr Amos Forte, said the man had walked to the bridge at about 1:00pm and suddenly jumped into the river.
“Several persons raised the alarm and he was eventually rescued,” Forte said. He said the rescue was carried out quickly by people around.
He added that the man appeared to have sustained injuries during the incident and was immediately taken for medical attention.
Forte added that security operatives later visited the scene. The circumstances that led to the man’s action were not known at the time of filing this report.
