The founder of Grace Nation Bible Ministry, Pastor Chris Okafor, has broken the silence over the ongoing controversy involving him and Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, following days of intense public debate.
Ogala was arrested at her residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025, after she accused the cleric of failing to fulfil an alleged promise of marriage to her after his pre-wedding pictures surfaced online.
Addressing his congregation during a marriage thanksgiving service on Sunday, Pastor Okafor, in a video that has gone viral on social media, maintained his innocence, insisting that allegations must be proven in court.
“He that alleges must prove,” the cleric said.
Okafor claimed that God had instructed him to remain silent on the matter despite what he described as painful misrepresentation.
“Though it can be painful that you are misrepresented for what you are not, what you have never seen or known in your life, we leave it there for now. Thanks be unto the Lord,” he said.
He added that responding publicly would amount to dignifying the devil, stressing his personal relationship with God and his commitment to following due process.
“We will never dignify a mad devil by replying. That would amount to glorifying the devil. Since I grew up, I have known God as my father, and nobody can tell me anything about him,” Okafor said.
The cleric further stated that he was guided by prayer, study and obedience to divine instruction, while also respecting the rule of law.
“There’s a law in this country that works, and we follow the law. Everything you say about anybody, you must prove it in a court of law. So don’t worry, we are not quiet. We are praying and following the mature way. The truth will come out,” he said.
Okafor explained that he could not disclose details of the matter publicly because authorities were already investigating the case.
“Because the authorities are in the matter, I cannot say it in public. You will be surprised about the people involved and those behind the scenes, but I will not jeopardise the investigation and the court process. He that alleged must prove,” he added.
