A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Stakeholder in Kogi State, Hon. Prince Oluwakayode Emmanuel Eseyin, has described the party’s 2026 National Convention as a turning point that underscores its unity, resilience, and readiness to reclaim political leadership in Nigeria.

In a statement on Monday, Eseyin said the convention, themed: “A Convention of Inclusiveness, Unity and Renewal,” represents “a defining moment in the party’s journey toward rebirth and consolidation.”

According to him, the successful hosting of the convention demonstrates that the PDP remains strong and nationally relevant despite doubts about its stability.

“At a time when many doubted the resilience of the PDP, the convention stood as clear evidence that the party remains united, focused, and determined to reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s democratic space,” he said.

He noted that the event featured goodwill messages from party elders and stakeholders, deliberations on key motions, transparent elections, and the swearing-in of new members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

“These processes reflected order, purpose, and internal democracy at its finest,” Eseyin added.

The PDP stakeholder identified the address delivered by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as a major highlight of the convention.

“In his speech, he reaffirmed a fundamental truth—that the PDP is a strong party bigger than any individual and must be preserved, and its mandate fully restored,” he said.

Eseyin further noted that Wike’s message resonated widely within the party, reinforcing the need for discipline, unity, and collective responsibility among members.

He also commended Wike’s role in the success of the convention, stating that “his strength, stability, and personal sacrifice, including the full support of the convention, were instrumental in its success.”

“At a critical moment, he stood firm in defense of the party’s core values, sending a strong signal that the PDP remains vibrant, resilient, and unshaken,” he added.

On the conduct of the convention, Eseyin praised the seamless electoral process and the formal declaration of winners, describing it as a reflection of the party’s commitment to transparency and fairness.

“The convention was formally adjourned by the newly elected National Chairman, bringing to a close a truly remarkable and impactful gathering,” he said.

He emphasised that the outcome of the convention goes beyond routine political activity, describing it as a bold statement of intent by the party.

“This convention is more than an event; it is a bold statement that the PDP is re-energized and ready to lead,” Eseyin stated, adding that the party is now positioned to pursue national restoration and democratic excellence.

He also congratulated Wike for his leadership role, expressing confidence in the party’s renewed direction ahead of future political contests.
