Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Mamman Nami, has taken up supporters of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago over his allegations that the governor acquired property illicitly both in Nigeria and abroad
Nami, a former chairman of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) told PDP stakeholders at their meeting in Minna that the administration of Governor Bago was “deceitful.”
He alleged that some properties acquired by Bago with public funds were located in various parts of Nigeria and abroad, including Abuja, Lagos, Dubai, Brazil, Washington D.C., and London.
The governorship candidate, therefore, pledged that his administration would pursue the recovery of such assets through lawful processes if elected.
He said that the proceeds from the recovered properties will be channelled into the development of the state, fight insecurity and meet developmental challenges.
While unveiling what he referred to as a 10-point development agenda for the state, if elected in 2027 he said they included improved security, human capital development, employment, healthcare and better welfare for residents.
Nami expressed concern over the activities of bandits and the persistent incidents of kidnapping across the state, saying his administration will take decisive measures to improve security and protect the lives and property of residents when elected.
In a swift reaction the supporters of the governor, questioned the stewardship of the PDP candidate at the FIRS as the chairman.
Yakubu Ibrahim Mallow on his social media handle said the PDP candidate should have enunciated what he will do differently instead of making allegations that he could not back with evidence.
Another Supporter Usman Mohammed in his reaction called for issues based campaign instead of personal attack on the Governor.
