Plateau State commissioner for budget and economic planning Hon. Chrysanthus Dawam has assured the management of the Safe Schools Programme a space in the 2025 budget for better service delivery.
The commissioner made this known when the team visited him in his office in Jos.
Dawam said the Governor Caleb Mutfwang administration was determined to bring development by carefully selecting young and talented people of the state for important assignments.
While assuring them of the ministry’s partnership, he said the ministry would ensure that the programme is captured in the 2025 budget.
State coordinator of the Safe Schools Project, Mr Alex Ladan, said they were at the ministry to introduce the programme and seek collaboration in view of the important role the ministry of budget plays in coordinating the budget process.
He said SSP is an inter-governmental political commitment which Nigeria keyed into the programme in 2019 under former president Muhammadu Buhari with the aim of ensuring the safety of schools in the country.
Hon. Ladan added that the programme seeks to address violence against children, natural disasters, strengthen school systems and manage conflicts and urged the ministry to ensure that schools in the state are safe for learning.
