Police Arrest Bandit, Neutralise 3 Kidnappers In Niger

A suspected member of a bandits group from Zamfara State Samaila Saidu a.k.a litre has been arrested in Niger State by the state police command even as three Kidnappers were neutralised.

The state Command’s Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Wasiu Abiodun said in Minna, that the suspect was arrested based on “actionable technical intelligence”.

He said the suspect, who is 22 years old, relocated to the Gwacipe area of Gurara Local government area from Zamfara and was arrested at Izom market by the Crack Squad team of the Command.

“During interrogation, the suspect narrated that he is from Dansadau area of Zamfara State but now resides in Gwacipe area of Gurara, Niger State. He confessed that he had worked with Kachalla group for over two years and mentioned a series of robberies, cattle rustling and kidnapping he had participated in Mangoro Sarkin-Pawa area, Garun-Gabas, Bena Kotonkoro area, and the attack on Kagara town,” the PPRO said.

He said the suspect is under investigation and aiding the Police investigation process to uncover and curb other banditry activities in the state and beyond.

In another development, he said a report was received at Mokwa Division that a victim was abducted by suspected kidnappers at Takuma village, Mokwa area, and one other was shot in the hand but taken to hospital for treatment .

Abiodun said on the receipt of the report , a combined team of Police/vigilante members of the Division were mobilised and trailed the suspected kidnappers to Kpakiko forest.

He said the police team engaged and had a gun duel with the hoodlums, where  three suspected kidnappers were neutralized in the process, and one AK-47 rifle with three live ammunition was recovered.

He said the victim was rescued, and investigation into the kidnapping incident is in progress, as effort is on top gear to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.
