The Kano State Police Command has arrested a driver attached to the Government House over the theft of a white Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the governor’s advance team.
Spokesperson for the command, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement issued on Wednesday, said the vehicle was reported missing at the Government House on November 11, 2025.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, swiftly ordered the closure of all entry and exit points in the state and directed that the stolen vehicle be traced and recovered alongside those responsible for the theft.
“Following sustained follow-up and intelligence-led investigation, one Ya’u Inuwa, a 50-year-old male driver at the Government House, was arrested in connection with the incident,” Kiyawa stated.
He explained that the stolen Hilux was recovered at Unguwa Uku, Yan Awaki Quarters, in Kano metropolis and is currently in police custody.
The police spokesperson added that preliminary investigation revealed the suspect conspired with two other individuals, who were now on the run, noting that efforts were ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing accomplices.
Kiyawa commended officials of the Kano State Government House for promptly reporting the theft, noting that such cooperation enhances the Command’s capacity to tackle crimes effectively.
He assured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining law and order across the state, adding that further developments would be communicated as investigations progress.
