Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Kunle Ogunnusi for assaulting his four year old child.

The man was arrested on Wednesday 14th of August at the Rosebud area of Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti, the state’s capital.

The state police spokesman, DSP Sunday Abutu in a statement said the Command received a credible tip-off that the man was beating and inflicting serious injuries on his 4-year-old child.

He said, “Operatives from Oke-lla Divisional Police Headquarters immediately swung into action, moved to the scene and arrested the suspect who was met in the act.

“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and said that his action was out of provocation over his son’s misbehaviour.

“Further investigation revealed that the suspect is always in the habit of abusing his child by beating him with dangerous objects and inflicting injuries on him at any slight provocation.”

The state’s Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Adeniran, according to the statement, said that the suspect will be arraigned accordingly.

He, however, implored residents of the state to promptly report any form of abuse, especially on children and other criminal activities observed within their environs to the Police for immediate attention.
