The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Gafaru Rasaki, for allegedly exhuming human remains from a cemetery in Sagamu and being in possession of four human heads.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Abeokuta. He said operatives of the Shakura Police Division apprehended the suspect on January 21, 2026.
“On the 21st of January, 2026, operatives of the Shakura Division arrested one Gafaru Rasaki in possession of four human heads.
“Upon interrogation and thorough investigation, it was revealed that the suspect unlawfully exhumed the human remains from a cemetery,” Babaseyi stated.
He described the act as a serious violation of the law and a disrespect for the dead, emphasising that such offences would not be tolerated.
Babaseyi added that all exhibits had been secured as evidence, and the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The police spokesperson reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to maintaining public safety and warned that anyone involved in the desecration of human remains would face the full weight of the law.
