The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has dismissed an allegation that its operative was involved in a bike accident leading to a minor sustaining a fatal heart injury on Friday.
Dismissing the social media reports linking operative of the command to the accident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Timfon John, exonerated any offer of the command from the crime.
LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered a social media report had attributed the accident to a policeman, alleging that he threw an object at the bike operator, leading to the accident, which the police spokesperson denied.
Addressing journalists at the Ikot Akpanabia-Uyo headquarters of the command, Ms John dismissed the allegation as misleading.
She said, “The attention of the command has been drawn to a misleading report circulating on social media, alleging that a Police officer threw an object at a moving motorcycle, resulting in a minor sustaining a serious heart injury.
“The command wishes to categorically state that the allegation is false, misleading and did not occur as reported. At no time was any police officer involved in throwing any object at a motorcycle or engaging in any act that led to the said injuries.”
