The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has disbursed cheques totaling ₦54,000,000 to families of fallen heroes who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the commissioner said the disbursement was in continuation of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day.
This was made known in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye.
According to the statement, the cheque presentation ceremony, held in Owerri, forms part of activities marking Day 4 of the National Police Week celebration, in honour of the sacrifices and dedication of fallen officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
Speaking at the event, CP a Bosso reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, to the welfare of officers and their families.
He emphasised that the gesture, facilitated through the Police Force Insurance Scheme, is a clear demonstration that the sacrifices of fallen officers will never be forgotten.
Some of the beneficiaries include Bridget Innocent, Hillary Okoye, Joy Ernest Emmanuel, Ifunaya Joy Okoro, Okafor Sampson and Sunday Ann.
Mr Okafor Sampson gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressing gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Nigeria Police Force for their support and for remembering the families of fallen heroes.
The event was attended by senior police officers, representatives of the Police Force Insurance Scheme, and families of the deceased officers, who expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force for the support and recognition.
