Delta State police command have vowed to prosecute suspects arrested during a gay wedding.

No fewer than 100 suspected gays were arrested at the venue of the wedding when a crack team of police operatives stormed the event.

It said the prosecution would go in line with Nigeria’s anti-gay law which prohibits same-sex marriage in the country.

It made the threat yesterday when it paraded the suspects arrested at a popular hotel along Refinery Road, Ekpan in Uvwie local government area of the state.

The suspects were paraded by the police at the Ekpan Divisional Police headquarters in Uvwie ahead of their arraignment in court by the police.

Meanwhile the command said it is trailing the hoodlums that killed a policeman attached to the Isiokolo (Otoro-Agbon) Divisional Police headquarters, Ethiope East local government area of Delta State.

The cop was shot dead when the gunmen numbering two had arrived at the entrance of the station and shot sporadically at policemen mounting security at the time of the incident.

Two cops sustained injuries during the attack and were rushed to the hospital where the victim was pronounced dead by doctors.

The second victim who was also critically injured was said to be responding to treatment as at the time of filing this report.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the death of one of the officers, adding that the gunmen came with a motorcycle.
