‘Political Nomad On The Move Again,’ Presidency Mocks Peter Obi’s Exit From ADC

The Presidency on Sunday mocked former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing him as a “political nomad.”

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the remarks in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he dismissed Obi’s reasons for leaving the party.

“We told you so. The political nomad is on the move again,” Onanuga wrote, urging the public to disregard what he described as “puerile reasons” contained in Obi’s resignation message.

The presidential spokesman characterised Obi’s explanation as “illogical musings” and a “self-serving letter to his mob,” while accusing him of political opportunism.

Onanuga further described the former Anambra State governor as “a politician made of jelly,” alleging that he avoids tough political contests.

According to him, Obi could not contend with figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi for a presidential ticket, opting instead for what he termed an “easy road.”

“He pursues the easy road, that will only lead him to doom, like in 2023,” Onanuga stated.

The Presidency also accused Obi of consistently blaming the government for national challenges without engaging in self-reflection.

Onanuga ended his remarks with a pointed message: “Welcome, Peter to the 2027 race.”
