Portable Slams Davido, Claims He Offered Food, Not Fame

Nigerian Controversial Singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, alias Portable, has taken a swipe at Davido, born David Adeleke.

The reaction comes hours after videos surfaced online showing Davido celebrating skitmaker Carter Efe following his win over Portable. In the clips, Davido and his crew were seen partying at a club, with one moment capturing him embracing Carter Efe. At the same time, another showed the comedian proudly displaying his championship belt as Davido laughed.

Responding to the viral videos, Portable insisted that Davido has never truly supported him. He claimed the singer only offered him poor advice and, during their first meeting at a restaurant, merely bought him food. According to Portable, their second encounter at a club saw Davido buying him drinks but failing to give him a verse.

It would be recalled that in June last year, Davido hosted Portable at a dinner and even gifted him a luxury pair of shoes. However, shortly after, Portable criticised Davido, alleging that Davido had given him misleading career advice. He pointed out that despite being signed to Sony Music, Davido advised him against joining the label, instead suggesting he sign with Empire and take an advance. Portable also stated that he is chasing the same Grammy recognition as Davido.

Following the backlash, Davido unfollowed Portable on Instagram, further angering the street singer. Portable then claimed that if Davido’s rival, Wizkid, had featured him on a song, he wouldn’t have needed to seek Davido’s support.

In a separate interview, Portable recounted how he cancelled a $6,000 show in the United States to meet Davido, only to feel his time had been wasted. He maintained that if Davido or anyone else cannot assist him, they should avoid putting him under pressure.
